Email Address Validation

Email Address Validation

Why does my email address get rejected?

In an effort to maintain high standards and fight spammers, Webonizer has built-in email verification procedures. For membership on a Webonizer site, email addresses must be validated with validation links sent via email to their provided email.

Many Webonizer functions will check to see if an email address is legal (a valid email format). Still others will check the MX entry of the email address domain to see if the email can even possibly exist.

If you enter an email into a Webonizer form and get a message like “Your email address was either improperly formatted or pointed to a domain that is not responding to our verification request.” It can mean that your email address includes characters that are invalid or that it was typed out erroneously (missing the “@” or other required part).

Sometimes even valid email addresses get blocked because the domain hosting the email does not respond to our MX lookup. This can happen if the domain hosting the email is temporarily down, lagging due to high traffic, or general network congestion. If you are absolutely certain that your email is valid and receive an error like the one above, assume that your domain is simply not responding to the Webonizer verification request—you should be able to enter that email address shortly.

If, however, your email address is rejected after repeated attempts, it probably means that the domain hosting your email address is blocking our verification request. If this is the case, you should use an email address from a domain that allows MX lookup.
